So next weekend is homecoming weekend. New Trier does things a little differently than other schools. Once we are juniors and seniors we dress up in themes. The themes are supposed to be creative. There are some ideas that are creative and are hilarious. There are others that are not at all, but some people find a way to think that they are. Most of the themes tend to be an idea for the boys....and there "hoes", etc. Just like Halloween, homecoming is an event that girls have excuses to wear barely any clothing and get away with it without being directly made fun of or harassed. I don't understand it because you can have a good theme without looking like. "hoes". In my mind it is completely degrading to girls and really not that funny.
What do you think of the whole idea?

You have no idea. I was just talking about this with my friends and although I am not in their group i was helping them come up with a theme. It seemed like the only ones the guys could come up with were ones where they girls we refered to as some sort of slut. It was horrible! I'm wondering if anyone can think of a theme with out any "sexy" outfits. I feel like it is more up to the girl whether or not to dress like that. I don't think you have to dress that way if you don't want to.
Of course you don't have to dress that way and everyone definitely has a choice of that, but it just seems as if that is the main goal of it all. Sometimes it is just from the boys and the girls just end up going along with it, but sometimes the girls want to dress like that and make a statement. It is nonsense. Any theme can end up being skanky, it is just a matter of the way you take it.
